Welcome to ANT Neuro Educational Webinar Series!

Transcranial focused ultrasound (tFUS) is an emerging tool to modulate brain function. Established methods that rely on electromagnetic stimulation have pitfalls like low spatial resolution and difficulty reaching deep brain targets. Transcranial focused ultrasound does not suffer from these limitations as it can be focused with millimeter precision through the human skull to reach practically any target in the brain. This presentation will give an introduction to the quickly growing field of ultrasound neuromodulation, demonstrating how tFUS helps to map brain function and may lead to novel therapeutic interventions and presenting the recent evidence that mood and functional network connectivity can be modulated with tFUS.

The presenter is Dr. Jay Sanguinetti who is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Arizona and a Research Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico. He has published widely, from topics on the neural basis of vision and the temporal dynamics of perception to understanding how the brain changes in Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia. His current interests include using noninvasive brain stimulation to enhance cognition and well-being. Dr. Sanguinetti and Shinzen Young recently launched the Sonication Enhanced Mindful Awareness (SEMA) lab at the University of Arizona. Their lab is developing accelerated mindfulness protocols for therapeutic interventions to treat addiction, chronic pain, and depression.

The registration deadline is 24:00 (CET) on August 11th.
