nTMS Functional Mapping Bootcamp
A full-fledged bootcamp to walk you all the way through the principles of TMS to the practicalities of conducting neuronavigated TMS functional mapping
This event is closed. You can find its highlights and impressions here.
About the event
This bootcamp is targeting neurosurgeons, neurologists, neurophysiologists, neuropsychologists, neuroscientists, and anyone who is interested in understanding the fundamentals of TMS (from fundamentals of navigated TMS neurophysiology and biophysics, MRI processing to applications of navigated TMS in research and clinical practice and data inspection, export and interpretation various setups and analysis methods) and contextualizing the applications around functional mapping. The general introduction on day one will be followed by a more specialized theme on the second day focused on motor and speech functional mapping.
The expert instructors are leading researchers in their field. Together with the ANT Neuro specialists, they will guide the participants all the way from the introduction to broader applications, the MRI preprocessing, data analysis, export, and interpretation steps.
During the practical sessions, the participants will be in supervised groups acquiring data and gaining a thorough hands-on experience to help them start with their own future functional mapping procedures.
The Berlin nTMS Bootcamp is particularly suited for PhD students, early-career researchers and anyone who would like to be well-equipped to get started with mapping acquisition and analysis with neuronavigated TMS.

About the speakers
Dr. Med. Jann Frederik Wojak
Neurosurgeon, University Hospital of Lübeck, Germany
Dr. Jann Frederik Wojak is Specialist in Neurosurgery, currently working at the University hospital of Luebeck, Germany (UKSH, Campus Luebeck). For his doctoral thesis in neurology at the university of Luebeck, Dr. Wojak worked on the topic “Investigations on bilateral vestibular failure: About the influence of predictive mechanisms on the vestibulo-ocular reflex and the dependence of gravidity, vestibular and proprioceptive inputs on stand oscillation”. In the following years, he worked as a specialist registrar and post-doctoral research assistant in neurosurgery at the University hospital of Luebeck, Germany (UKSH, Campus Luebeck) and at the “CHU de Bordeaux” (University hospital of Bordeaux, France), he completed a fellowship in skull base surgery and neurosurgical Oncology at the “CHU de Bordeaux” (University hospital of Bordeaux, France). Dr. Wojak is subspecialized in skull base surgery and neurooncology, endoscopic neurosurgery, vascular neurosurgery, neuromonitoring, and neurointensivcare medicine. His current research subjects comprises: Opportunities in pre- and post-surgical TMS-mapping and -treatment, neuromonitoring in subarachnoid hemorrhage- and cerebral injury- patients, and resting state fMRI analyses for presurgical gradings in glioma-patients.
Dr. Kerstin Häringer,
Founder and COO, MAG & More, Germany
Dr. Kerstin Häringer holds an academic degree in electrical engineering and a PhD degree in medical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. In 2002 she founded MAG & More, a device technology company focused on the field of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Within MAG & More she has worked in all fields of entrepreneurship and has experience in product management, hardware development, risk management, regulatory affairs, quality management, and general management.nIn 2021 MAG & More joined the neurocare group and Kerstin continues to oversee operations and general management of the business unit TMS.
Dr. Oksana Lyalka,
Neuronavigation Product Manager, ANT Neuro, Germany
Dr. Lyalka is a cognitive scientist with a focus on language processing in people with aphasia. She earned joint PhD in 2017with specialization in Cognitive Neuropsychology from IDEALAB program (International Doctorate for Experimental Approaches to Language and Brain) from the universities of Newcastle (UK), Macquarie (AU), Groningen (NL), Potsdam (DE), and Trento (IT). Her professional interests encompass the research of the nature of semantic organisation and word finding difficulties in people with aphasia, language testing in neurogenic communication disorders and awake brain surgeries. She joined ANT Neuro in 2022 as a product manager neuronavigation with the focus on functional mapping of language.
Dr. Molood S. (Farnoosh) Safavi,
Head of Education at ANT Neuro, Germany
Dr. Molood S. (Farnoosh) Safavi is a cognitive neuroscientist with special focus on language. She earned her joint PhD with specialization in Neurolinguistics and Psycholinguistics from IDEALAB program (International Doctorate for Experimental Approaches to Language and Brain) from the universities of Groningen (NL), Potsdam (DE), Newcastle (UK), Trento (IT) and Macquarie (AU) in 2017. Her research interests include figurative language processing, predictive processing, language and memory, resolving syntactic dependencies and hemispheric differences in language processing. In her experimental approaches, she has used EEG/ERPs, Eye-Tracking and navigated TMS to explore the underlying mechanisms of language processing. She joined eemagine Medical Imaging Solutions / ANT Neuro in 2016 as a senior application specialist and soon became the scientific project manager for validating the use of nTMS in presurgical mapping as compared to the gold standard DES intraoperative-mapping. After some years of being the responsible product manager for visor2 neuronavigation solution, she launched Education department to drive different education-related initiatives which now fall under the ANT Neuro Academy as the learning hub for EEG and nTMS technologies.
Dr. Rachel Pläschke,
Application Specialist at ANT Neuro, Germany
Dr. Rachel N. Pläschke is a neuroscientist with a background in clinical psychology and related MRI-based neuroimaging research with an overarching focus on schizophrenia. She earned her PhD from the University of Düsseldorf & the Jülich Research Centre, Germany, on the topic of altered functional brain networks in schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, and advanced age and associated connectivity-based predictions. One of her main interests lies in neurotech applications for psychiatric conditions. She joined ANT Neuro in 2021 as an Application Specialist.
Dr. Giulio Di Cosmo,
