Welcome to ANT Neuro Educational Webinar Series!

In this webinar, we are happy to provide you with an introduction to principles of EEG in mobile cognition.

Developments in psychology and neuroscience have greatly advanced our understanding of cognition. But while classical laboratory experiments have been crucial to informing models of brain functioning, these types of experiments generally do not capture the experiences of the real world and therefore lack ecological validity. Due to the nature of study designs, an understanding of the dynamics of the brain/body system in action in the world has been missing. However, new epistemological and methodological approaches promise a radical solution to this problem. The presenter will briefly present “4E Cognition”, a theoretical framework for studying cognition in the wild along with methodological advancements in the field of Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI). Along with presenting main challenges and opportunities for research, he will show an example of current research at the Center for Human Neuroscience & Neuropsychology (CEHNN).

The presenter is Dr. Francisco Parada who is a cognitive psychologist and neuroscientist. He earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology and Neural Sciences at Indiana University-Bloomington and postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. He is the current director of the Center for Human Neuroscience & Neuropsychology (CEHNN) at the Psychology Department, Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile.

This session will be followed by a hands-on EEG session with focus on hyperscanning presented by Dr. Antonia Thelen who is a ANT Neuro Senior Application Specialist. Before joining ANT, she received her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Looking forward to welcoming you to this webinar!
