DESCRIPTION:<a href="https://academy.ant-neuro.com/event/precise-motor-mapp
 ing-with-transcranial-magnetic-stimulation-51/register">Precise Motor Mapp
ing with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation</a>\nThis is a past event\, but
you can watch the recorded session from here. Welcome to ANT Neuro Educat
ional Webinar Series! In this webinar we discuss and describe a routine to
precisely localize cortical muscle representations within the primary mot
or cortex with TMS based on the functional relation between induced electr
ic fields at the cortical level and peripheral muscle activation. MEPs for
different coil positions and orientations are combined with electric fiel
d modeling\, exploiting the causal nature of neuronal activation to pinpoi
nt the cortical origin of the MEPs. This involves constructing an individu
al head model using magnetic resonance imaging and computing the induced e
lectric fields with numerical modeling. The cortical muscle representation
s are determined by relating the TMS-induced electric fields to the MEP am
plitudes. This webinar will be presented by Dr. Konstantin Weise who studi
ed theoretical electrical engineering at the Technische Universität Ilmen
au and received his PhD in 2016. From 2016-2022\, he was working as a Post
-Doc at the Max-Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in
Leipzig on methodological advancements and numerical modeling of transcra
nial magnetic stimulation. From 2022-2023 he was working in the Department
of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University in the field of Tumor Treating
Fields. From 2023 he is temporary professor for Electrical Engineering at
the University of Applied Sciences in Leipzig (HTWK) and principal investi
gator at the MPI for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences Leipzig. ANT Neuro
