DESCRIPTION:<a href="https://academy.ant-neuro.com/event/language-tasks-in-
 stimulation-mapping-45/register">Language Tasks in Stimulation Mapping</a>
\nThis is a past event\, but you can watch the recorded session from here.
Language Tasks in Stimulation Mapping Using language tests to localise fu
nction in the brain has come a long way: From home-made tests involving co
unting and naming weekdays\, the benefit of using standardised and patient
-tailored protocols has been well established\, yet they are not accessibl
e for every facility and language. In this webinar\, we introduce one of t
he available language tests for pre- and intraoperative mapping under stim
ulation\, the VAN-POP\, that triggers language production through naming n
ouns and verbs in a small sentence. We discuss the advantages of the tests
\, recommendations about how to choose between them and their items and ho
w to possibly adapt them to new languages. This webinar will be presented
by Dr. Ann-Katrin Ohlerth who is a clinical neurolinguist\, currently loca
ted as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholin
guistics in Nijmegen\, the Netherlands. With a background in linguistics a
nd further education in neuroscience and its application in the clinic\, s
he dedicated her PhD\, completed in 2022\, to improving the depth of lingu
istically valid tests during peri-operative mapping of language. By carefu
lly designing and tailoring language tests to the individuum\, she works o
n the individual localisation of language production sites both on the cor
tex and in subcortical networks in order to preserve quality of life for p
atients undergoing brain tumour surgery. ANT Neuro Education [Event ID: 05
