Linguist’s Perspective</a>\nThis webinar has ended. You can watch the r
ecorded session here. Welcome to ANT Neuro Educational Webinar Series! Int
raoperative language mapping with direct electrical stimulation is becomin
g more and more linguistically informed\, driven by understanding that bra
in areas differ in their specific functional contributions. In contrast\,
task-wise\, preoperative mapping with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (T
MS) is still at the beginning of this journey. In this webinar\, the curre
nt state of affairs in the two domains will be summarized from a linguisti
c perspective\, and a trajectory for further methodological improvements i
n the language mapping will be suggested for neurosurgical purposes. The p
resenter is Dr. Olga Dragoy who is the director of the Center for Language
and Brain at the National Research University Higher School of Economics
(Moscow\, Russia). Her current research interests extend to neurosurgical
populations (tumor and epilepsy)\, in which she transfers linguistic and n
euroscientific advances to immediate clinical practice. As well as develop
ing linguistically informed and methodologically robust fMRI paradigms for
preoperative language mapping\, she performs detailed perioperative langu
age testing and uses voxel-based lesion-symptom mapping to correlate the m
etrics of a pathological locus/resection cavity with a post-surgery langua
ge outcome. Olga recently developed a comprehensive Russian intraoperative
linguistic battery for mapping language with direct electrical stimulatio
n during awake craniotomies\, which is becoming the golden standard for Ru
ssian neurosurgery clinics. The registration deadline is 24:00 (CET) on Au
gust 25th. Looking forward to welcoming you to this webinar! Organization
