lcome to ANT Neuro Educational Webinar Series! Forms of neuromodulation in
cluding repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) are increasing
ly being used as treatment tools in clinical practice in psychiatry\, espe
cially in the management of patients with depression. The use of rTMS in t
he treatment of depression is now well established by a large series of ra
ndomised controlled trials that have demonstrated meaningful clinical effe
cts. However\, in this webinar we will discuss how the overall efficacy of
rTMS can be improved by increasing the precision of application\, especia
lly through the personalisation of the method of treatment targeting and a
lso potentially through the use of tools to personalise the frequency of s
timulation. The scientific presentation will be followed by a virtual prod
uct demonstration and a Q&A session. Prof. Paul Fitzgerald is Professor of
Psychiatry at Monash University and Director of the Epworth Centre for In
novation in Mental Health based at Epworth Camberwell. He is a qualified p
sychiatrist\, with a Masters of Psychological Medicine and research PhD. H
is main clinical and academic interest is in the development\, evaluation
and clinical translation of new therapies for mental health conditions. Hi
s research program has been mainly focused on various forms of brain stimu
lation including TMS\, tACS\, magnetic seizure therapy and deep brain stim
ulation. Prof. Fitzgerald cofounded TMS Clinics Australia and he led an ap
plication to the Medicare Services Advisory Committee that has resulted in
a recommendation that TMS treatment for depression be funded through Medi
care in Australia. He is also a cofounder of Resonance Therapeutics\, a co
